Gala Squash Clubs current Ladies Champion, Rachel McAleese was called up to play in the East of Scotland League for Abercorn Squash club. Abercorn Captain Sandra Pardoe had heard about Rachel’s prowess on the court from other squash clubs that had played against Rachel before and just had to have her on the team. Rachel was drafted in as no 3 seed of 5 and tore her opponent apart with lightening quick movement and continuous focus and won 3-0; this victory ensured a 3-0 victory for Abercorn Ladies over Waverley Ladies 2nds.
Gala Squash Club spokesman Del Sharratt said “I am delighted to hear that Rachel has been head-hunted for league squash, Rachel has only been playing squash for 18 months and her enthusiasm and determination has seen her improve no end! This is the next natural progression for Rachel and these level of games will only improve her further as a player.”
Rachel’s performance has earned her a re-call against Edinburgh University Ladies next week.
